Eucharist Gives Strength To Those
Who Are Weak, Weary, Lost, Pope
Says
|
VATIVATICAN
CITY -- The Eucharist
sustains those who are tired,
worn out or lost in the
world and transforms human
sin and weakness into new
life, Pope Benedict XVI
said. Speaking at his weekly
general audience Jan. 11,
the pope focused on Jesus
and the Last Supper, where
he instituted the Eucharist,
"the sacrament of his
body and blood.” "Jesus'
gift of himself anticipates
his sacrifice on the cross
and his glorious resurrection,"
the pope said.More...

FR.
EDOKOBI: A 'Common Property' of Nnewi
Diocese
“Men
who have sacrificed and tried to live
up to the challenges of their priestly
vocation know that it is not the fear
of something; it is the love of something”.

The remain of Fr. Edokoobi been carried
to the grave side
The late Fr. Edokobi belonged to all
of us because he loved the Church
and always put his faith first. Men
like him who sacrificed and tried
to live up to the challenges of their
priestly vocation know that loving
the Church is not the fear of something;
it is the love of something.
We talk a great deal about loving
the Church. What do we mean by that?
I venture to suggest that what we
mean is having a Sensus Ecclesia (sense
of the Church), putting one's faith
ahead of self; a sense of Church's
position on issues which is not short,
frenzied outbursts of emotion, but
the steady dedication of a lifetime.
Faithfulness with passion unto death
on what one believes in. He was a
priest, he loved his priesthood and
he loved the Church.
Some priest will remember Fr. Edokobi's
voice during their meetings, - that
unforgettable voice that rolled and
rolled as clear and majestic as he
clarifies issues with an air of a
professor on a lecture rostrum. His
students will remember his mastery
of language. His parishioners will
miss his sense of purpose and catechesis.
Members of Purgatorian Society nationwide
have lost a father and an unrepentant
motivator. Hundreds of people he mid-wifed
their vocations into priestly and
religious . .. .. .
